Green Hide Program
Between 550-600 green frozen hides are donated and shipped to remote Aboriginal Communities located in the James Bay regions. These hides are tanned in the tradional fashion by the elders while teaching their younger people the natural tanning process and the hides are then used for clothing and crafts in their communities.
Hand Drum Workshops
Deer hides are donated to Bill Russ and Jackie Labonte in the Niagara area. Bill and Jackie teach the art of hand drum making to various school groups, church groups, community action awareness groups, female/male correction facilities, at risk youth groups, native training workshops, healing lodges, etc. The purpose of these workshops is to embrace cultural awareness, shared with native and non-native alike. This was a pilot project last year receiving 300 hides and was so successful that it has been increased to 500 hides this year.
